New Trailer: Her

By Huntress Thompson | Images: Collider.com

The ┬ásecond trailer for Spike Jonze’s romantic dramedy Her has just been released, and features Arcade Fire’s Reflektor album closer Supersymmetry.

Her tells the story of a writer (played by Joaquin Phoenix) and the increasingly complex relationship he develops with an operating system that’s designed to anticipate and fulfil his every need, voiced by Scarlet Johansson.

Jonze’s previous full-length features include Where the Wild Things Are and Being John Malkovich, and is perhaps most well-regarded for his ability to create hypothetical realities in which very real emotions can be drawn from viewers.

Her also stars Chris Pratt, Bill Hader, Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, Olivia Wilde and Kristin Wiig.

  1. Also I hope Charlie” Kaufman will find his feet again, after the major stumbling block that was “Synedoche New York”
Though I think Shane Carruth has far exceeded both Jonze and Kaufman in terms terms of ideas and intellect

  2. Hopefully this will be far better than Jonze’s last film “Where the Wild Things Are” which was incredibly dull and shamelessly mumble-core.
I think some real talent has emerged in the last few years in independent American Cinema such as Benh Zeitlin and Jeff Nichols with far more accomplished works.
I see Jonze has also locked onto hipster gods “Arcade Fire” for the soundtrack.
There is no doubt I will be seeing this, but my primary reason for seeing it will be for Joaquin Phoenix.
His intense and fearless performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “The Master” is indeed on the finest performances of all time – and he has proven over the years to be a heavy weight to be reckoned with.
