Friday Playlist: DJ Rockin’ Rael F

By Huntress Thompson

We’ve convinced resident SSA DJs Liam Revenge and Rockin’ Rael F to make us a Friday playlist each, so we can kick into the weekend Shake Some Action style!

Here’s Rael’s.

Question Mark and the Mysterians – Shout
Their big hit was with 96 Tears, but this cover (originally written and performed by the Isley Brothers in 1959) is a stand out dancehall classic!

Dickie Loader and the Blue Jeans – Teen Machine
GREAT 60’s South African garage-rock classic. This song is on a compilation called Greasy Rock’n’Roll vol 13, released by Raucous records.

Gino Washington – Out of this world
Detroit soul classic from 1963, if you can’t dance to this you can’t dance to anything!

Renegades – Thirteen Women
UK 60’s Beat band covering the classic atomic fantasy song, originally by Bill Haley. The apocalypse doesn’t look so bad.

Dave Clark Five – No Time To Lose
A direct music lift from Twist and Shout, but it works perfectly! A great song. Originally recorded by the Top Notes as Shake it a Baby, and then by the Isley Brothers as the classic we all know, Twist and Shout.

Catch Rael live at Shake Some Action, as the mayhem continues tomorrow night at The Kimberley Hotel.
